Individual Therapy
I knew it was time to look for a therapist when…
Whatever the reason is for you, I’m glad you found me. Individuals often come to me at a time when the tools they already have just don’t seem to be working anymore. They’ve made it this far, but pushing through anxiety or depression has been made suddenly much harder by a recent life transition, or one that’s looming on the horizon. They want to dig a little deeper and get to the roots of some of these issues so they can handle life a little better.
So how does this work? After an intake, our second session will be spent drawing your family tree so I can get a good idea of where you come from. I hold that knowledge closely as we get into our work together. I am trained in attachment based therapy, and I draw from internal family systems (IFS), which identifies the different parts of each person. I also use mindfulness and somatic therapy, which means listening to your body and responding to it, and cognitive behavioral (CBT) / structural therapy, which means making practical changes to how you think about and respond to your environment in order to lower anxiety and prepare you to explore more deeply.

“I came to Sarah seeking help to work through a traumatic event in my life and she has shepherded me through that pain with attentiveness, care, and deep knowledge of her field. In the process of healing, I have learned new insights about myself and how to be a better parent and partner.”

“I am a transgender woman, and I carry with me a complex set of intense traumas. Sarah has helped me navigate my life with PTSD. She has also helped me learn how to set boundaries and carry myself with confidence in my day-to-day life.”
Sometimes we just need someone who is ready to take the journey with us.
